| 1980 : G-Force members are : Gary Moore (guitar/vocals), Tony Newton (bass, keyboards, vocals), Willie Dee (vocals), Mark Nauseef (drums). Their only album is "G Force", with Gary trying a strange sound for his recordings, having his guitar connected directly to the sound board, without an amp. They tour supporting Whitesnake without great success. 1981 : In the summer, plays in Cozy Powell' s "Tilt", the tracks "Sunset" and "The Blister". Works for former ELP guitarist/bassist/singer Greg Lake's LP "Greg Lake" (including Gary' s Nuclear Attack) and follows him on tour in England and USA. The album "Greg Lake In Concert" is released (including "Nuclear attack" and "Parisienne walkways").
1982 : A great come-back solo album, "Corridors of power", including the hit "Always gonna love you" and a hardest version of Free' s "Wishing well". The lead vocals of "End of the world" belong to Jack Bruce. The album reaches the top - 10 on the UK hard rock charts. Gary tours with great musicians by his side, like Ian Paice, Neil Murray, Tommy Eyre, Don Airey. 1983 : The "Dirty fingers" (which was recorded in 1981) album is released, including Animal' s "Don' t let me be misunderstood". A live album "Live at the Marquee" is also released, which was recorded at the Marquee Club of London in November 1980. Guest appearance in Cozy Powell' s "Octopuss" (tracks "Dartmoore", "Formula One"). After recording some shows in Japan, his live album "Rockin' every night" is released in Japan only. He records "Victims of the future", including the top-hit ballad "Empty rooms" and Yardbirds' "Shapes of things", which is released in January of 1984. On the final night of the Thin Lizzy tour (at Hammersmith Odeon), a reunion of all the guitarists that passed from the band takes place. At the encore, Gary plays in "Black rose" and "The rocker" and the tracks are included in Thin Lizzy' s "Life-Live". Gary also playes in Greg Laks's "Manoeuvres" album this year. 1984 : World tour starting from England, rest of Europe, Japan and ending in USA. Some recordings from the tour are mixed, put together and a new live album "We want Moore!" is a fact. Gary plays at the Monsters of Rock festival (with Van Halen, AC/DC, Ozzy and others). In December he returns in his home country Ireland, to perform there (with guest Phil Lynott), after 10 years. The shows in Belfast and Dublin are filmed and the video "Emerald aisles" is shot.
1985 : Gary and Phil Lynott are together again in " Out in the fields", a new EP release, containing the songs "Military man" and a "Still in love with you" - remake with Phil on the vocals. The new LP is called "Run for cover", and includes "Empty rooms" in a different version. Glenn Hughes, also, appears on the album. Gary plays in this year' s album of "The Beach Boys". A tour follows with Phil appearing in the encores. 1986: On January 4th, Phil Parris Lynott dies, leaving friends, relatives, partners and millions of fans stunned. On May 17th Gary plays at the "Self - Aid" festival in Dublin with two Lizzy members (Gorham and Downey) and Bob Daisley on the bass. Gary sang "Don 't believe a word" (included in the "Live for Ireland" album) and Bob Geldof sang "The Cowboy song". The encore was "Whiskey in the jar" with all the artists on stage. Later, plays some gigs with Queen and Marillion and does some session work with Frankie goes to Hollywood. "Rockin' every night" live album is finally released outside Japan. 1987 : Gary takes part in Ferry Aid 's cover Beatles' "Let it be" between the biggest names of pop/rock music (Boy George, Paul McCartney, Kim Wilde, Cutting Crew...), for charity reasons. He plays half the solo of the song (Mark Knopfler takes the other half). Later, one of the greatest Moore' s albums "Wild frontier" , influenced by Irish folk music and dedicated to Philip Lynott, is released. The LP contains songs like "Over the hills and far away", "Wild frontier", a remake of Max Middleton' s instrumental "The Loner" and the Easybeats' "Friday on my mind". The participating musicians are Neil Carter (keyboards/vocals) and Bob Daisley (bass), two excellent partners that toured and recorded with Gary from 1984 to 1989. The drums are programmed. The band (with Eric Singer on drums) tours around the world and a show is filmed in April. The video is labeled "Live in Stockholm". ![]() 1988 : Appears in Don Airey' s album "K2 - Tales of triumph and tragedy" and in Keith Emerson' s "The Christmas album". Gary goes with Neil Carter in Dublin to write new material. He meets his old friends from Skid Row there and enjoys some jamming with them. Then, goes with the band in Denmark and afterwards, England to record. 1989 : "After the war", is released with Ozzy as a guest star on "Led Clones", and Cozy Powell on the drums of the most songs (two songs by Simon Philips). The album includes great songs like the epic "Blood of emeralds" (dedicated to Philip Lynott), "Running from the storm" (Don Airey on keyboards, the solo reminds of Colosseum II), "Ready for love" and two remakes : Thin Lizzy' s "Emerald" (Brian Downey on drums) and Roy Buchanan' s instrumental "The Messiah will come again" (recorded live in studio).However, Gary seems to be bored of the hard rock scene and during the forthcoming tour decides to try a different style. |
